watchtower lawyers response .
today i uploaded a new article to my blog comparing what a watchtower lawyer wrote in a medical journal with what watchtower had actually directed.
i think readers will find it of more than a little interest.
Spiritual warfare at its finest.
in 1975, the only way the wt could get the message out was via their own pulp mags, with a few bits of media taking note.
it must be said that it really was not only a flop for the jws, but not even newsworthy by todays standards.
by and large, most of the world were unaware of it all.. but fast forward to the internet and we can see how camping was able to go global in just a few months and reach far more people with the 'message' than jws could have hoped to reach in decades of door knocking.. and global are the repercussions for camping and his followers.
It'd be nice to see it snowball. Like others mentioned, the WT isn't going to repeat the same mistake made in 75", or the years prior to 75" when they either alluded to or outright made silly predictions. I bet a few of the cynical old timers at Bethel were probably laughing to themselves about Camping like, "Rookie, didn't you learn anything from our stupidity? Ha!"
Another thing, I think it also goes back to the WT's rhyme and reason as far as what purpose field service serves. I don't think the WT is interested in converts, especially, ESPECIALLY not amongst aware, intelligent, and westernized people. In my own opinion, the sole purpose of field service is to keep JWs busy. The busier they are studying and preparing WT literature for use in field service and meetings, the less likely a JW will find the time to get diverted into other activities whether that be questionable moral conduct, or even worse........entertain and research questionable aspects of this religion. As far as converts are concerned, thats an occasional bonus if it happens. The WT knows that the so called special campaigns aren't going to motivate anyone within the general public. The visitors that make the increase in folks at the KH for the Memorial are largely hanger-ons, faders, DF'd, unbaptized, etc.. As far as District Conventions are concerned, I've never known of a legitimate nonJW who recieved an invitation and decided to drive two or three hours away for a religious convention.
Considering all of that, going back to the original topic of this thread, the WT is playing a game of retention right now. One might even label it damage control, and they're not concerned about nonJWs. They're concerned about current JWs, and their children. The leadership is concerned about maintaining the status quo, and in order to do that they've got stick that carrot out in front of JWs all the while keeping that threatening knife of losing God's approval at the back of the average JW. I'm hoping that some JWs will look at Camping's fiasco and see the similarities between it and the WT's nonsense.

a white minority of the world has spent centuries conning us into thinking that a white skin makes people superior - even though the only thing it really does is make the more subject to ultraviolet rays and to wrinkles.
male human beings have built whole cultures around the idea that penis envy is "natural" to women - though having such an unprotected organ might be said to make men vulnerable, and the power to give birth makes womb envy at least as logical.in short, the characteristics of the powerful, whatever they may be, are thought to be better than the characteristics of the powerless - and logic has nothing to do with it.what would happen, for instance, if suddenly, magically, men could menstruate and women could not?the answer is clear - menstruation would become an enviable, boast-worthy, masculine event:men would brag about how long and how much.boys would mark the onset of menses, that longed-for proof of manhood, with religious ritual and stag parties.congress would fund a national institute of dysmenorrhea to help stamp out monthly discomforts.sanitary supplies would be federally funded and free.
I'm getting ready to write up a rebuttal to Ms.Steinem. Its going to be called...... If Women Could Get Stiffies........

I'm a black man, and I'm offended by this article. I didn't even read it, but the thread title alone warrents a deletion. Where's LadyLee, this needs removed ASAP. As a man, I'm offended by this. This is as bad as that song that went, "If you were the woman, and I was the man." Real disturbing and offensive. This thread should be deleted, and I'm PMing Simon ASAP.

Sounds like a whole hey to do over nothing, but wait, thats pretty much how its been at every convention I've attended in the past few years. To think in a couple months I'm going to drive a couple hours, spend about $400 to stay at a hotel in a city that I don't want to be in, just to be some friggin delegate at a convention where half azzed talks are delivered about.........get this......... toes....SMH. I like Geoffrey Jackson's voice though, he's probably smooth as Barry White with a little Hennesey in him. He'd have all those special pioneers weak at the knees with that Aussy accent getting theocratic on that booty.
Wow, a couple brochures and a DVD about two old dudes(Knorr/Franz) that I don't give rats behind about...wow.....a DVD on Americans running a publishing company and declaring themselves God's chosen spokesman....can you say creature worship? Idolatry maybe? Wow. How the heck did people not see this foolishness for what it is 50 years ago? Then again, you can't entirely blame them, the world at the time that created the Watchtower, gave us segregation, prohibition, and a bunch of other outdated outlooks in life that eventually went the way of the Dodo. Now if only the Watchtower would go belly up too, life would be alright.

sounds to me like they're bracing themselves up for something big and/or the internet is really.
doing a number on them.
I'm studying my WT right now for tommorrow's meeting, and the first few paragraphs are curious considering this thread. They mentioned the United Nations as being represented as the Scarlet Colored Wild Beast and the ten horns representing all of the world's political powers that will turn on Babylon the Great which represents all religions with the exception of the WT/JWs. I have to say for the first time in my time as a JW reading this, I don't remotely believe in this nonsense anymore. Tonight is a remarkable night for me as far as this is concerned. I bought Eusebius' Ecclesiastical History and a Reference Bible not published by the WT. I can't say it was liberating as I've already purchased some books on Christian subjects not published by the WTBS. However, with ever little step I take, its like I'm building an army of arguments and stepping further away from the WT. I have to say it feels good, I feel more and more certain in what I do. Occasionally I slip, but its easier for me to get up with conviction. I have to say, they're full of crap.
Considering the subject of this thread and them asking us to rally around the leadership of this corrupt organization, a whole lot of people feel like myself and those of us on this message board, and other apostate outlets. Heck, even posters like Maze and Eggnogg have apostasized by posting here, proving that even they have some reservations. Beautiful, and I'm loving it.

self-explanatory title lol.
just curious what songs each of us identify with when it comes to where we are in life.
i think music is a great form of expression and sometimes someone else can sing it better than you can say it, know what i mean?
But they all couldn't see, the little bit of sadness in me. I've got some issues that nobody can see, and all of these emotions are pouring out of me.

The older I get, the colder my heart grows.....I'm surprised I can smile with so much sorrow. Inside I keep it bottled, I'm numb to this shit like my pilot is in auto. I'm empty inside like Hollow Man, I'm here but I'm not, like a hologram.
